CT 3454 - REFRACTORY METAL CASTING COMPOUND:

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

CT 3454 was originally formulated to be a refractory coating for gates a risers. Because of the extreme insulating and wear properties in this product , CT 3454 has also been found to perform exceptionally well as a refractory mold wash when a smooth finish is required and as a ladle coating for aluminum casting processes.

APPLICATION

Gates and Risers - CT 3454 is generally brushed on as received. Some operators dilute with up to one part water and brush thin, multiple coats until the required thickness is obtained . Coating repairs and build-up can be achieved at high temperatures. Chipping, flaking and loss of coating life sometimes occur when the coating is applied too thick.

CT 3455 - HD REFRACTORY MOLD WASH

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

CT 3455 - HD refractory mold wash contains mica , oxides , clays and other special ingredients formulated to uniformly wet hot mold surfaces. This product affords the textured finish desired to produce sound aluminum castings. CT 3455 - HD is non - corrosive , controls the solidification rate of the molten metal , prevents soldering and is easily removed when required. It has been formulated specifically for thin wall , medium to large - sized castings.

APPLICATION

CT 3455 - HD is usually diluted with 2 to 3 water and sprayed or brushed on hot mold surfaces. Recommended mold temperatures for coatings ranges from 250°F to 400°F. When applied with proper techniques , cast surfaces will have the desired matte or textured finish. It is normal for this product to display some water separation upon prolonged standing. Mix to a uniform consistency before withdrawing contents from container. Keep tightly closed when not in use.
